I'm Back!

Okay… so it's been a long semester at Uni. I haven't stopped, I was either working in the Club or working on Uni work, or at Uni! Very tedious! But hopefully it is all worth it!

This semester has been so good! I've felt like I have achieved a lot from my uni modules, and had some great times out with my friends (even if it wasn't very often, it made it better!)

I've loved one module in particular this semester and that was Editorial Journalism. However, not so much the journalism side, but the photography side of it. We have had to design our own magazine… This is my magazine that was shown in a presentation in our last seminar. However, there are some tweaking to do before it is sent to the printers: http://issuu.com/abbyfield/docs/midniighttnoir

Here are a few photos that I took myself (they are all copyrighted…), even if they aren't in my magazine I still love them!

The magazine we did had to eventually all be on Identity. So I focused mine on the angle of how you see yourself and how other perceive you.

I am just organising now to have my magazine printed and binded!

Identity

Oscar Wilde

The first quote by Oscar Wilde is so true. Why would you want to be anyone else anyway? If we were all the same we would all be boring!

And I love the second quote. Honestly, when I was at boarding school you were either clever or not. No in between. It's so wrong. And if you were a prefect in the last year you wore a different blazer to everyone else so you stood out. Which is fine because we were like a point of call for anyone. But honestly, that green blazer got to some people's heads and they were just out on a power trip all the time. I don't think I ever took the blazer too seriously in the sense that I treated people as "below" me. You are there to help.

You are who you are, whether with A*'s or not, a green or navy blazer or whether you have expensive clothes or not. We are all so judgemental of each other, and yet I bet if you took some time to get to know some one a lot of your first views of that person would be incorrect.

Your environment will create your characteristics. But things that happen in your life will too. I always think about how I treat people and how I want people to treat me. You don't know everyones life story so you have no idea what has happened in their life. I always take that in to consideration.

As they say, "never judge a book by its front cover".

Identity & Space

One of my University Summer Projects was to explore these two topics. We were given a list of questions to consider, they are as follows:

- Consider what is identity and how it is constructed?
- How do you see yourself?
- Is identity constructed and interpreted by the self or the onlooker?
- What identities are drawn to you?
- How do you feel certain spaces, environments and ambiances affect the way we look and behave?
- What spaces make you behave a certain way?
- How does the aesthetics of a space, curation of its content and signage make you behave?

Not only am I going to look into these two topics, but blog about my summer, fashion and other topics.

So I think its time to explore...
